MARVIN MENEZES
Marvin Menezes has substantial experience in the Brazilian power sector and related regulatory affairs, from generation, in its various sources, through transmission to distribution and trading of energy. In this area, advises companies, free and special power consumers, power traders and other agents of the power sector in numerous activities, such as the relationship with the Ministério de Minas e Energia (“MME” – the Ministry of Mines and Energy) and the Agência Nacional de Energia Elétrica ("ANEEL” - the Regulatory National Agency of Electric Energy), regulatory consulting and also analysis of a diversity of contracts, regulated and non-regulated, such as Power Purchase Agreements ("PPAs") and Transmission Line Connection Contracts, and others.
His extensive experience in the power sector led him to understand and act in other several infrastructure areas, working with all infrastructure related contracts, such as EPC Contracts (Engineering, Procurement and Construction), turn-keys, Built to Suit, BOT (Build, Own and Transfer) contracts, as well as other different arrangements. Marvin also dealt with the agreement post signing matters, working side by side with the operational personnel on the day to day activities of power utilities, including litigation and arbitration, regulatory, civil, environmental and contractual matters, among others.
Marvin advises energy companies in the industry also in the readjustment process and tariff review, and in administrative and judicial proceedings of regulatory matters.
He had been working as a lawyer in one of the largest energy companies in Brazil for several years, and is a professor in various energy law courses.
